Man attacked with acid in Tallaght during terrifying incident

A man received minor injuries after he was attacked with acid during a frightening incident in Tallaght in Saturday afternoon.

The alleged attack took place outside a barber shop at a popular gym on the Greenhills Road at around 3pm and left one person requiring medical attention.

It is understood a man entered the barber shop and began acting suspiciously before he was asked to leave by a member of staff.

The attacker was escorted outside where he then reportedly pulled out a knife and threw a corrosive liquid at the employee.

Speaking with Echo.ie this afternoon, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating an alleged incident at a barbershop on the Greenhills Road.

“The incident occurred shortly before 3pm on Saturday 27th May.

“A man in his 30s was threatened and sustained minor injuries when a corrosive substance was spilt on his leg during a dispute with a second man.

“The alleged assailant fled the scene in a car prior to arrival of Gardaí. A number of Garda units attended the scene at the time of the incident, however no arrests were made.

“Enquires are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station 01-6666000.”
