Man charged in connection with seizure of €1.4m worth of drugs

A MAN charged in connection with the seizure of €1.4 million worth of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis last March has been remanded by Blanchardstown District Court for service of his book of evidence.

James Gannon, aged 31, with an address St Mark’s Drive, Clondalkin, is charged with simple possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at Lidl, Ballyowen Castle, Lucan, on March 22, 2018.

He is also charged with simple possession of cannabis at Citywest Storage, Tallaght, also on March 22 last.

Gannon was also charged with simple possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for sale or supply, simple possession of ketamine, possession of ketamine for sale or supply and possession of cocaine, cannabis and ketamine for sale or supply with a value of €13,000 or more at Citywest Storage, Tallaght, on March 22, 2018.

He is also charged with possession of benzocaine for use in the preparation of controlled drugs and permitting a unit in Citywest Storage to be used for the preparation of controlled drugs at Citywest Storage on March 22 last.

Gannon is also charged with possession of cocaine for sale or supply with a value of €13,000 or more and using a Ford Transit for the possession of drugs at Lidl, Ballyowen Castle, Lucan, also on March 22, 2018.

Garda Patrick Hearne told Judge David McHugh that he charged Gannon with the above charges before the court. He said Gannon had made no reply when charged.

Garda Hearne said the DPP had directed trial on indictment.

He asked for a remand to January for service of the book of evidence.

Judge McHugh remanded Gannon on continuing bail to a date at the end of January for service of the book of evidence.
