Man charged in relation to Michael Tormey shooting

GARDAI investigating the fatal shooting of father-of-two Michael Tormey in Ballyfermot, have charged a man.

The man (40 years) has been charged in relation to the incident and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday morning, January 19, at 10.30am.

A statement by gardai said a woman (39 years) was released without charge this evening and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Tormey (49) was shot multiple times at the front door of his Thomond Road home in the early hours of Sunday morning, January 9.

According to reports, Mr Tormey had been at a house party on Saturday night and got home at around 3.30am.

He was shot in the front garden of his house before 5am, while his wife and one of his children were asleep inside.

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
