Man charged with €175,000 cocaine dealing released on bail of €5,000

A MAN appeared in Tallaght Court last week charged with dealing in €175,000 worth of cocaine.
Judge Patricia McNamara remanded Philip Douglas in custody with consent to bail.
Douglas, aged 29, with an address at Monalea Grove, Firhouse, is charged with simple possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at an address at Verschoyle Glen, Saggart, on October 10, 2017.
Garda Sarah Donaghy told Judge McNamara that she arrested Douglas at Woodstown Shopping Centre on October 10 last.
She said Douglas was later charged at 7.10pm on October 11 by Sergeant Eimear Hamill in Tallaght Garda station.
Garda Donaghy said it will be alleged that the cocaine involved was worth €175,000.
She said a number of bail conditions had been agreed with Douglas’ solicitor, Padraig O’Donovan.
The conditions were that Douglas sign on daily at his local Garda station, that he reside at his home address, that he surrender his passport and that he observed a curfew at his home from midnight until 8am.
Mr O’Donovan said his client was unemployed and a single man. He said Douglas was entitled to the presumption of innocence and that the valuation of the drugs was an alleged valuation and had not been subject to testing.
Judge McNamara set bail at €5,000 with the above conditions.
