Callaghan, aged 43, with an address at Harelawn Park, Clondalkin, is charged with possessing stolen property: a Carrera mountain bike at Shancastle Park, Clondalkin, on November 7, 2018.

He is also charged with two counts of burglary at the King’s Hospital School, Old Lucan Road, Palmerstown, on November 7, 2018.

Garda Michelle Doyle told Judge McHugh that she was objecting to bail for Callaghan under Section 2 of the Bail Act and the O’Callaghan rules.

She said that Callaghan was charged with handling stolen property and two charges of burglary.

Garda Doyle said it will be alleged that at 8.15am on Wednesday, November 7, Callaghan and two other males were observed in King’s Hospital School.

She added that it will be alleged that at 4.20am that morning, Callaghan entered an office in the school through a window which was 50 metres from where pupils were sleeping.

She said it will be alleged that a number of bicycles were taken from the school which were used for triathlons.

Garda Doyle said it will be alleged that she and her colleague identified Callaghan from CCTV from the school.

She added that she later came across Callaghan in Clondalkin and found him in possession of one of the bikes. She said that a number of bikes are still missing.

At Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday, November 13, Callaghan was remanded in custody untill November 27 next.
