Man questioned in connection with Ballinascorney murder released without charge

The man questioned by Tallaght gardai in connection with the death of Michael McCoy in Ballinascorney has been released without charge.

A murder investigation was launched on Friday after the body of Mr McCoy was found at Ballinascorney Hill.

Gardai this morning confirmed to Echo.ie that a 41-year-old man questioned in relation to the murder has been released.

A garda spokesperson said: “The man arrested in connection with this investigation has been released from Garda custody without charge.

“A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”

Mr McCoy’s family launched an online campaign over the weekend to find a missing family pet, their Boxer dog Fia, who has not been seen since the attack.

A cash reward has been offered for any information on Fia’s whereabouts, while a search has been organised in the Ballinscorney area for this morning by the family. Check out the Facebook event page HERE.

Anyone who was in the general area of Ballinascorney Hill, or Ballinascorney Road Upper between 6am on September 29th and 4am on September 30th is asked to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda station on 01 666000 or the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111.
