Mindless vandals set Tymon Park race track on fire for fourth time

Mindless vandals have targeted and damaged a community-driven nitro racing track in Tymon Park for a fourth time – setting parts of the track on fire and breaking into an equipment container.

Back in August, after extensive work had been done to bring the track, which is run by Kaos Nitro Racing, up to competition standard, the facility was set alight.

Speaking at the time, Club founder Keith O’ Neill said the club could not sustain anymore vandalism and pleaded for more security at the site to ensure the club’s future.

This time it appears the thugs poured petrol into the pipes that act as barriers around the track and then set them on fire, causing a huge amount of damage.

Speaking about the latest attack on the much-loved community facility, Tallaght Labour Party councillor Mick Duff said: “The club cannot sustain or continue to survive these attacks and they are seeking the support of the community to try and get any information that may lead to identifying the perpetrators.

“If anyone can help in any way with information, please pass it on to the Garda in Tallaght on 01 6666000.”
