‘Mini Live Aid’ concert to raise funds for Laura Lynn Foundation

A CONCERT dubbed ‘Mini Live Aid’ will take place in the Transport Club in Crumlin at 6pm tonight, Thursday, August 18, to raise funds for children’s hospice charity the Laura Lynn Foundation.

This is the third year that the event has been held by Ballyfermot man Damien McElligott, who in previous years held it as a street party with performers such as ‘X Factor’ star Mary Byrne.

“Normally I have a street party and get the road closed off for a few hours and have what I call it, the ‘Mini Live Aid’,” Damien told The Echo.

“We have some top performers on the day and this year will be bigger and better than before.

“The first year was great. We had a lovely sunny summer’s day and must have had about 200 people attend.

“We made over €2k that year and last year the same, but the weather wasn’t great which stopped a lot of people coming, so this year it’s indoors.”

While a line-up for the concert has not been announced, Damien said the event will give attendees the chance to see some of the country’s best performers and musicians in action.

Tickets for the concert are €10 and can be purchased on the door ahead of the performances and a raffle will also be held on the night.

“I’ve got tickets printed up,” added Damien. “Four hundred in total and I’m hoping to sell them all.

“People can pay in at the door on the night as well and if they’d like to donate, they can Revolut me on 087 383 6099 – every penny goes to the Laura Lynn Foundation.”
