Minister confirms scoliosis specific theatre at Crumlin Hospital to open in April

Minister for Health Simon Harris has this evening said that an operating theatre, to specifically deal with scoliosis patients, will open in Crumlin Children’s Hospital in April.

Speaking in the Dail, the Minister said 194 scoliosis operations with be carried out there this year.

Answering questions in relation to the RTE Investigates programme last night, which exposed long waiting lists for thousands of people, Mr Harris said the focus of the government’s efforts will be to ensure there are no further delays in relation to scoliosis surgeries.

The Minister also confirmed he will meet with the CEO of Crumlin Children’s Hospital this evening seeking answers as to why a theatre specifically designed for scoliosis operations is not being used.
