More than 340 runners and walkers take park in Dodder Valley Parkrun

THE first Dodder Valley Parkrun went off very well, despite the poor weather last Saturday morning.

There were 346 runners and walkers who participated in the run as well as a team of volunteers.

According to Thos McDermott from South Dublin County Sports Partnership: “The feedback from participants was very positive with many remarking on the great improvements that had been made in the park and how well it looked.

“The route itself was also widely praised as it comprised a short and a long loop and showed people different aspects of the park.”

This is the fifth Parkrun in South Dublin County, with people delighted to have such a choice on their doorstep.

The Parkrun will continue for free every Saturday morning at 9.30 am, starting at the pavilion across from Aherne’s pub on the Old Bawn Road.

Walkers are especially welcome as the emphasis is on taking part, not results.

South Dublin County Sports Partnership, in partnership with the HSE, has launched the new weekly Parkrun event in Dodder Valley Park.
