Morrissey and Marshall aim for the top!
By Mary Dennehy
MELODIC duo Morrissey and Marshall are this week reaping the success of their energetic performance on the Late Late Show last Friday, with offers for gigs and festivals rolling in.
Hailing from Rathcoole and Springfield, Darren Morrissey and Greg Marshall, who are now London-based, have already caught the attention of music fans, critics and venue bookers with their mashed up folk and rock sound – which, peppered with organic harmonies and catchy, upbeat melodies, is reminiscent of music in the sixties and seventies when storytelling was a celebrated and integral part of song writing.
After storming the Late Late Show stage on Friday, with the help of their band, which includes Tallaght musicians Joe Leech, Mark Maguire and Ken Mooney, Darren and Greg are back in London promoting their new single, Cold November Sunrise.
Despite a busy schedule, Darren took five to speak with his local paper.
How have things been since you released your debut single, I’ve Got A Plan in August 2013?
It’s been a long, amazing journey. We’ve since released our debut album, And So It Began, which received an incredible response, including an invite from the president to play at Aras an Uachtarain, and we have toured with the likes of Sinead O’Connor, The Magic Numbers, Damien Dempsey and The Beautiful South – unbelievable really!
