Motorists warned as lights out of action on Tallaght bypass

By Echo Reporter

Motorists and pedestrians are being warned to take care in Tallaght today as the traffic lights at the junction of Whitestown Way and Cookstown Way will remain out of order until at least tomorrow.

The busy junction at Tallaght Stadium has been without working traffic lights since the early hours of this morning, and South Dublin County Council has confirmed the fault is due to extensive damage caused by a collision.

Those passing through the junction this morning were forced to carefully navigate their way through, with no Garda or council presence on site.

Several residents in the area have contacted the Echo to express concern over the current absence of Garda or council officials, with The Echo unable to get confirmation from the Gardai on whether a presence will be provided later.

With rush hour traffic expected to the be heavy in the area, motorists and pedestrians should take care, and if at all possible avoid the junction.
