Moyle Park College celebrate students wonderful achievements

MOYLE Park College celebrated a very special graduation evening on Wednesday, May 25, which was the first one that was in person since 2019.

Last Wednesday evening celebrated the wonderful achievements of the class of 2022 at the college who have shown great resilience and determination over their time in secondary education.

Fr Coughlan who celebrated the mass before the awards ceremony, spoke of how the class of 2022 can be a light for good in our world.

The awards presented on the evening included Student of the year, sportsperson of the year, NINA award, Ciaran Carr Award, Donal Grace Award, Sean Mitchell Award, Languages award, Business Award, Humanities Award and the Marist bursary Award.

Student of the year for 2022 from the graduating class went to Raul Philip, while students Eamon O’Callaghan and Luke Swayne were joint recipients of the Marist bursary Award and Aidomo Emakhu won Sports Person of the Year.

Darragh McCabe won the business award, which was presented by Ms Redington, Milo Rafter received the Languages Award, presented by Ms Moylan and The Humanities Award was presented by Mr Quane and went to student Eamon O’Callaghan.

The NINA (buddy) Award: The NINA (Need Information Need Advice), which was set up in memory of a past pupil Chris Haas went to Emmanuel Muritala, as voted for by his fellow students.

The award is to acknowledge the support and compassion that a student shows to his peers and someone who is trusted by their peers for help and advice during difficult times.

Setanta Higgins received the Donal Grace Award, which is awarded to a student who has excelled in the fields of mathematics and science during their time in secondary education.

Scott Higgins was the winner of the Ciaran Carr Award, which remembers past pupil Ciaran Carr who sadly passed away from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome in 2012.

The charity has worked tirelessly to deliver lifesaving defibrillators to many schools and institutions. Gemma Carr, Ciaran’s mother, presented the award on the night.

Colm Tyrell was the recipient of the Sean Mitchell Award, which is in memory of a former woodwork teacher who sadly passed away several years ago.

The award recognises a student who has excelled in the practical field in the subjects of construction studies and engineering.
