NIALL Murray believes the experience he gained at the Road to Indy Shootout held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, will certainly benefit him in the coming seasons.

While it was Oliver Askew who won the event, the Firhouse man gave a good account of himself at this level.

“My Road to Indy Shootout experience was nothing short of exceptional,” he said.

“I did not come home with the grand prize, but the amount I learned is priceless. It was basically a two-day driving test and after day one I was very happy as I was joint fastest with the eventual winner.

“Unfortunately, for some reason I was just not able to repeat the lap times I set on day one. I was very confused and disappointed, but to get to drive Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and to meet so many officials, judges, teams and factory drivers from Mazda and the Road to Indy was brilliant.

“My aim is still to contest the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda. I am now in the process of trying to find some backing” he said.
