New beginning for Cancer Support Group with opening of drop-in centre

THE grand opening of the Tallaght Cancer Support Group’s (TCSG) new premises on Main Road in Tallaght Village was held last week, with dozens of invited guests were in attendance.

The ribbon for the new building, which is beside but unconnected to the Lifegate Church, was cut by Kiltipper woman and TCSG client Audrey Hillary.

Ms Hillary has been involved in the support group since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and they supported her through her cancer treatment.

The new premises is the culmination of many months of searching for a new space for the group, after they had to vacate their previous premises in Trustus House last April.

The TCSG will now be able to provide their services, such as yoga, counselling and a drop-in service, in person again as a result of moving into their new premises.

“It’s a new beginning for us,” Frances McNulty from the TCSG told The Echo.

“A few people have been on to us, asking us when we are opening again and when they can see us again. They miss the group.”
