New GP clinic opens its doors in Tallaght

A NEW GP clinic has opened in Tallaght to cater for a rapidly growing population and demand for health services in the community.

Dr Torun’s Clinic at 59A Old Bawn Way is open seven days a week, albeit they are currently putting the finishing renovation touches to their premises at the weekends.

Dr Elif Torun, Dr Antonios Issou, and receptionist Alana, are on hand to welcome patients for all essential health services and check-ups.

Speaking to The Echo, Dr Elif said they are thrilled to have announced the grand opening of the new GP clinic.

“Tallaght is a very good area. This is one of the busiest districts in Ireland”, said Dr Elif.

“There is lots of retired GP’s, a lot of elderly people in the area, a lot of families, and it is also close to Kildare where lots of people are looking for a local doctor.

Dr Elif holds medical doctor qualifications from the Ministries of Health in both Turkey and Romania and is fully registered by the Irish Medical Council

“I see huge demand for health services here. Many are disappointed if they are on waiting lists, they want services.

“At the moment, we have patients, but our numbers are increasing.”

Of major importance to Dr Elif and her colleagues in Tallaght, is both the mental and physical wellbeing of her patients.

Receptionist Alana said there is free parking available and that the surgery is wheelchair accessible

“We are a GP clinic with a mission – not just the physical but the mental”, Dr Elif said.

“I think this approach is needed in Dublin and Ireland.

“We want everybody to know we have two doctors giving our best services, seven days a week.

“With extended hours and a commitment to accessibility, we understand the importance of flexible healthcare ensuring that you can receive the medical attention you need, when you need it.

“From Monday to Sunday, we are here for you.”

Dr Elif, of Turkish descent, qualified from Oradea University Faculty of Medicine in Romania, and holds medical doctor qualifications from the Ministries of Health in both Turkey and Romania.

She is fully registered by the Irish Medical Council.

Dr Antonios Issou graduated from the University of Aristotle Cedis, Greece in 1986.

He developed a special interest in general medicine and family medicine, leading to him becoming a specialist in family medicine in a 1992 Masters degree.
