No Regrets: Singer-Songwriter Leona announces latest single
Inspiration was “more like a natural progression” for Kingswood native Leona McManus, a diverse artist with notes of Emelie Sande and Kelly Clarkson, accompanied by a vocal range akin to Ariana Grande, who enjoyed writing songs and melodies as far back as when she was a child, reports Ryan Butler.
She harmonised everything she heard, always
“putting a spin” on things, but it wasn’t until later in life that she felt confident enough to develop her skills and make her own music With her soul-stirring blend of pop, rock, and soul influences, accessible lyrics, and catchy melodies, Leona is an independent singer-songwriter who is sure to create waves in the music industry.
Her artistic inspiration comes from paying tribute to numerous legendary musicians and experimenting with new sounds that combine nostalgia and contemporary elements in a way that is both potent and exciting.
Leona’s ability to produce honest, unvarnished lyrics through creative narrative and personal experiences will connect with audiences; her honesty connects with listeners, who can relate to the song’s lyrics and passion while also enjoying its appealing hooks and groove.
The singer-songwriter is delighted to announce her latest single, ‘No Regrets’, written and performed by herself and produced by Liam Geddes.
This new project originated from a sense of being powerless and being engulfed in a secret to keep the person you love safe.
One will stop at nothing to spare them from suffering, but we must live life with no regrets.
When asked if she still gets nervous when performing, Leona replied by stating that while not so much covers, “singing your own original music definitely makes you feel more vulnerable,” and continuing that she tries to visualise the performance she wants to give:
“Even on the smallest stage, in my head, I am in a massive arena.”
She described the experience of producing this latest single as “amazing,” stating that Liam understood what she was trying to achieve with the music and pushed her to make it the best it could be.
Recording vocals was most enjoyable for her, but creating something and bringing all of the visions one has to life was “so cool.”
She has more music in the pipeline to be released this year, including ‘Game for You’, which will be released soon.
When asked who she would like to thank for helping her career reach this point, Leona responded by stating that she has been
“incredibly lucky” to have the space to reinvent herself, acknowledging her husband Phil and two sons as her “biggest champions,” as she would not be doing this without their love and support.
She would also like to thank her mentors, Eimear Crehan from SpeakupSingout Music School (SUSO) and Gemma Sugrue from True Artist, as their guidance and knowledge have been “invaluable.”
‘No Regrets’ has been available for pre-save on Spotify and presale on Amazon and iTunes since March 22.
