No stopping Denning: Rathfarnham lad named academy driver for Aston Martin Racing

YOUNG up and coming motorsport driver Alex Denning’s career, continues to go from strength to strength.

The Rathfarnham lad, who only picked up the Sexton Young Driver of the Year, and a monthly Sports Star winner with The Echo, has been selected by Aston Martin Racing to be on their Driver’s Academy.

Denning will be competing in the GT4 European Series for Newbridge Motorsport alongside teammate Matt Topham as a PRO-AM pairing.

It’s straight down to business for Denning as preparation is underway for Round One of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in two weeks’ time in Italy.

It’s Newbridge’s first year in the GT4 European Series and there will be 52 cars out over the six weekends with two races per weekend over one and a half hour events.

The series will take place in Monza in Italy, Paul Ricard in France, Spa in Belgium, Misano in Italy, Hockenheim in Germany and Barcelona.

The series is supported by the Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS with many big names such as Italy’s Valentino Rossi.

“I am over the moon to be signed by Aston Martin Racing onto their Drivers Academy for 2023 after a very successful debut outing in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in Jerez in February,” said a delighted Alex Denning.

“The plan is to be at the front of all the Astons and hopefully even the overall grid.

“I recognise that it is a first for myself in the car and a first for all of the team to be competing out in the European Championship, but we are confident in our abilities to adapt quickly”

“It is a true honour to be representing an organisation with such heritage and success in the motoring world.

“To incorporate my wonderful network of corporate partners in this amazing journey is simply a dream come true.

“A special thanks to all my partners for their continued hard work and support into 2023.

“Without them, none of this would have been possible”

“Now let’s do Ireland proud, and get the Irish flag on the podium in Europe”
