TALENTED young performers will be putting on their dancing shoes later this month when they grace the stages of the Civic Theatre and Rua Red with their presence at the NOISE Moves Dance Festival.

The annual youth dance festival gives dancers, aged from 13 to 25-years-old, the opportunity to showcase different genres of dance, while dance classes for people interested in jazz, hip-hop or contemporary Irish dancing will also be held during the two-day festival.

A showcase of young choreographers who have been mentored by Liz Roche, the dancer-in-residence in the Civic Theatre, Ailish Claffey, Rua Red’s dancer-in-residence, and Matt Szczerek, from the Dance to Connect Urban Dance Festival, will open the festival with their ‘Emergence’ show.

Dance classes will be held in Rua Red as part of the festival, where participants will be put through their paces by Lisa Tyrell in the jazz dance class, Matt Szczerek in the hip-hop class or Oran Leong in the contemporary Irish dancing class.

Local and regional dancers will then come together for the NOISE Moves Performance – the last performance of the festival.

The groups who will be performing as part of the NOISE Moves Performance include Company B, Creative Steps, the Dublin Youth Dance Company, the Laois Youth Dance Ensemble, the Street Arts Academy and the Steptacular Performing Arts School, and their performances will traverse multiple genres.

The ‘Emergence’ performance will be held in Rua Red on Saturday, April 28, at 8pm, with tickets costing €7.

The dance classes, which will all be held in Rua Red on Sunday, April 29, cost €15 per class, with the jazz class taking place from 12.30pm to 2pm, the hip-hop class will be held from 2.15pm to 3.45pm, while contemporary Irish dancing will be taught from 4pm to 5.30pm.

The final show of the festival, the NOISE Moves Performance, will take place on Sunday, April 29, at 8pm in the Civic Theatre with tickets costing €8, or €5 per person for groups of four or more people.
