Novel idea creates positive feedback from community

TOUGH times in the local economy, but social media is helping businesses retain a connection with the community in Terenure.
The I Love Terenure Facebook page created individual videos for their Backing Terenure Business series, each video featuring a different local SME.

It is a novel idea that has generated a positive response while also acting as a friendly reminder that local businesses have much to offer in these challenging times.
The first installment of the series was April 27, featuring local boutique Feather and Fills.
In the short video, Feather and Fills owner Jean Condren explained that she had set up a virtual online store to connect with customers, and are offering a 25 per cent discount on all clothing during this time.
The second video featured Centra Terenure, praised for providing “unbelievable support” to vulnerable people during Covid-19.
The elderly, vulnerable and cocooning in Terenure and surrounding areas can call in their shopping list, staff in Centre will fill the list and have it ready for volunteer collection.
Centra Terenure managers Luciano and Lucy reassured customers that they are well stocked with goods on a daily basis, and happy to help out with the volunteer list on I Love Terenure.
Gerry Caffrey Motors are not open at this time but owner Gerry Caffrey said he was proud to have the name over the building for the last 33 years, and thanked residents for supporting local shops that are open.
Also closed at this time are Window Fashions, but they praised the community spirit, and are hopeful of re-opening on June 8.
For most of the other business in the series, online transactions and deliveries are keeping heads above water.

Olga Cripps, from the world famous Cripps footwear store at the normally busy village junction, said they have adapted the business by selling online, and she encouraged people to call for advice on their wide range of brands.
Terenure Office Supplies, in the village for over 30 years, offered a friendly reminder that they offer a delivery service for customers.
Animal lovers need not worry as the Pet Parlour are operating a ‘one in one out’ system and also delivering locally and nationally.
Marlow Dry Cleaners have re-opened at a scaled down rate but are open for business, and Japanese restaurant Tani are busy doing deliveries.
Deirdre O’Gara, a partner at DNG reassured residents that although the office is closed, they are operating virtual tours of properties, and can value properties if they are sent an Eircode.
