November Team of the Month: Ballyboden St Enda’s Inter footballers
AFTER a 51-year gap, Ballyboden St Enda’s secured only their second ever Intermediate Football title in O’Toole Park in November.
The Division Three outfit faced de[1]fending champions Na Fianna, who play their league football in a higher division, to emerge narrow 1-14 to 1-11 winners in a well-contested final.
Captained by Fionn Maguire, the Firhouse Road side produced a brilliant performance to take down a well-fan[1]cied Na Fianna outfit. In the decider, Boden had turned a three-point deficit in the second half into a seven-point lead.
Na Fianna did respond with a couple of scores but Ballyboden held out thanks to fine performances from Colm Doyle, Michael Dunne and a goal and a point from Malachy Codd.
Some of the players on the squad will be hoping for more success next year and a few players will certainly be pushing to make the Senior Football team.
After the match Ballyboden St Enda’s chairman Donagh O’Farrell said: “They are a great group of lads that have worked incredibly hard all year and are a credit to themselves, their families and the club”.
