Nursing team presented with star themed thank you quilts

MEMBERS of Tallaght University Hospital’s nursing team are covered this winter, after they were presented with star themed, thank you, quilts.

The Irish Patchwork Society (IPS) wished to recognise the contribution of nursing staff on Covid wards during the pandemic and to say ‘thank you’ in their own language.

In February of this year, the IPS started making star themed quilts and since then, 1,500 hours have gone into creating 31 quilts.

According to IPS, each quilt represents a hug to say thank you ‘for being a star in the dark sky of the pandemic’.

A spokesperson for Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) said that quilts were presented to staff on the Lynn and Ruttle wards.

“Staff on Lynn and Ruttle wards were very appreciative of this act of kindness and generosity,” the TUH spokesperson said.

“Your quilts and the sentiment behind them are beautiful.”
