Objections to opening unmanned filling station in Lucan

LUCAN residents have voiced concerns about the proposed opening of an unmanned petrol station at Ballyowen Castle.

The petrol station would require removal of 10 parking spaces from the Eurospar car park at Ballyowen Castle. Local residents believe this could create increased traffic congestion in the area.

Cllr William Lavelle, a local councillor for Lucan, who has lodged an objection against the proposed petrol station, has said: “Traffic chaos would ensue if this filling station was permitted in an area that is already too often gridlocked.

“There has been an overwhelming community backlash against this proposal.”

Cllr Lavelle added: “I have been directly contacted by over 100 local residents and local businesses opposing this and on behalf of the local community I have lodged a strong objection to the council.”

A spokesman for South Dublin County Council told The Echo that the council does not comment on individual planning applications.
