Outdoor dining area plans for Edmondstown Golf Club

AN OUTDOOR dining area has been included in plans submitted to South Dublin County Council by a golf club.

Edmondstown Golf Club is a championship parkland course set in the foothills of the Dublin mountains off the Edmondstown Road in Rathfarnham.

Founded in 1944, Edmondsotwn started off as a nine-hole course on an old dairy farm which grew to 13 and 15-holes before settling at a full-sized 18-hole course in 1959.

Following the construction of the M50, the club accrued additional land and in 2002, all 18-holes were remodelled into the current design that is there today.

Edmondstown Golf Club CLG recently applied for planning permission to erect an aluminium framed, glazed 127.sq.m pergola enclosure to form an outdoor dining area.

Proposals are for the outdoor dining area to be an extension to the bar and restaurant on the eastern side of the clubhouse.

Plans include all associated ground works to support the new structure and include alterations to the existing building and the provision of new rainwater goods and drainage.

In 2011, the club made minor modifications to the existing clubhouse when it demolished the existing professional shop and built a new state-of-the-art pro shop with a swing room.

Before that, in 2009, a new single-storey extension with a new entrance canopy was given the greenlight for the front of the clubhouse.

This approval included new signage, additional changing facilities, modifications to the existing pitched roof and demolition of the entrance canopy.

The new plans for the pergola outdoor dining extension, which were filed on December 16, are due to be decided by the local planning authority by February 16, 2022.

The closing date for third party submissions falls on January 28, 2022.
