Paint Tallaght green in St Patrick’s Day Festival

BE PART of a community effort to paint Tallaght green on March 17 by volunteering to support, sponsor or participate in a local St Patrick’s Day Festival planned for 2017.

In 2015, a group of community volunteers united to stage a St Patrick’s Day Festival in Tallaght Stadium, with the ball now rolling to bring back the event for 2017 due to public demand.

Planning is currently in its early stages with organisers seeking committee members, volunteers, dance groups, performers, sports clubs, bands and sponsors to express their interest.

Committee member Martha Cousins from Millbrook told The Echo: “We’re hoping to stage something similar to 2015.

“Obviously a parade is what people are looking for, but we need a lot of people-power and support to get that going.

However, we do hope that the festival will in the coming years grow into a parade.

“It’s important that we have something in Tallaght – it’s such a big area with so much talent and groups that it would be a shame not to promote all of that.

“The festival will also provide an event for families on March 17 and bring the community together.”

Anybody interested in expressing their interest is encouraged to visit the St. Patricks Day Tallaght Facebook page or email stpatricksdayfestivaltallaght@gmail.com
