Their parents, who have an address in Rathfarnham, had pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a school attendance notice ensuring the boy and girl’s attendance at a secondary school in Tallaght.

The father was before Judge John Lindsay for a probation report.

A Solicitor for Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, told Judge Bridget Reilly that the mother’s father had died.

The father told Judge Reilly that his father-in-law had died that morning of cancer. He said his wife was outside in the car and did not feel well enough to come to court.

The Solicitor for Tusla said it would be more appropriate to adjourn the case for a month for sentencing.

The couple’s counsel, George Burns Bl, consented to the application.

Judge Reilly adjourned the case for four weeks for sentencing.
