Parks remain open but car parks are closed

ALL South Dublin County Council parks remain open daily between 8am and 8pm, but car parks are closed.

According to the council, the decision to close car parks was made so as not to encourage travel from more than 2km distances.

The council said: “The decision was made in order to facilitate citizens living within 2km of parks to take brief individual physical exercise within their locality, which may include children from their household provided all adhere to the social distancing measures.”

The council added that parks are busiest between 12 midday and 5pm, so it would be better to choose a quieter time for visits where possible.

“Again, we would like to remind people to maintain social distancing while in our parks”, the council said.

“Spring is a wonderful time in our parks and a great time for observing the new growth and wildlife.

“Early mornings and later in the evenings are also better for this.”
