Peamount and Rovers players in for Euro Under 19 qualifiers

BOTH Peamount United and Shamrock Rovers each boast two players in the Republic of Ireland Under 19 women’s squad that will battle it out at next week’s UEFA European Championship qualifiers in Czech Republic.

For the Hoops, both defender Abbey Tuthill and midfielder Maria Reynolds have been named on the panel, while Peamount forwards Erin McLaughlin and Michelle Doonan have also been given the nod by Ireland manager, Dave Connell.

The squad, which also includes former Rovers and Cherry Orchard defender, Jessie Stapleton, will face off against hosts, Czech Republic next Wednesday before taking on France on Saturday, April 9 and Greece on Tuesday, April 12.

Peamount’s McLaughlin is one of 15 players in this Ireland squad who have already featured in the SSE Airtricity Women’s National League and Connell will be hoping that level of experience will benefit the side against higher-ranked opposition.

His side produced some very impressive football in the qualifying round and enjoyed a productive training camp in Turkey, which included two wins over Russia.
