Peamount Under 16s back in All-Ireland Final

Peamount Under 16s back in All-Ireland Final

PEAMOUNT United’s Under 16 Girls are back in an All-Ireland Cup decider after edging out Athlone Town 1-0 away in the semi finals on Saturday.

Orla Fitzpatrick served up the game’s only goal on 15 minutes when she got her head to a cross in from the right by fellow Ireland international Brianna Martin.

While Martin and Fitzpatrick together with Jessie Stapleton and Rebecca McMahon, went close to further scores, the one was all they needed to secure their place in the decider where they will face off against Hanover Harps from Carlow at the end of the month.

“They [Hanover] are a good side and very handy up front, but we’ll be confident” insisted Peamount manager Sean Kelly.

Indeed with five internationals in his side, namely Fitzpatrick, Martin, Stapleton and Maria Reynolds and Martin who lines out for Northern Ireland, this Peamount side certainly possess the quality to go all the way just as they did last year when they beat Wilton 4-0 to lift the Under 14 All-Ireland.

While they stepped up two years to Under 16 this season, they have impressed in joining this season’s Peamount Under 14s in the All-Ireland Cup Finals Day.
