Peamount women march on in the All-Island Cup

PEAMOUNT United women’s team progressed to the quarter-finals of the All-Island Cup in Greenogue at the weekend.

A second-half goal from Freya Healy was the difference between the sides after the hosts emerged 1-0 winners over Dublin rivals Bohemians.

The Newcastle side finished second behind Linfield on goal difference but did enough to progress in the competition.

“It was a good win for us. I was happy with the performance and more importantly keeping a clean sheet,” said Peamount manager James O’Callaghan.

“The league is the priority, but this competition is a great way to give some players game time.

“We have a lot of injuries but its great to still get these results,”.

Lauryn O’Callaghan played well in defence for Peamount while Dolan and Jess Fitzgerald at midfield were others to stand out.

Peamount now focus their attention to this weekends Airtricity League encounter with DLR Waves in Greenogue.

Peas overcame Treaty United 1-0 two weeks ago and will be hoping to continue their good run of form.

“We have been going well in the last five games and we are looking to maintain this run.

“DLR are always a good side and we will be hoping to continue our good run of form,” he added.
