Plans for 26 apartments and new pub approved at Finches

PLANS for the construction of 26 apartments and a new pub at the former Finches site on Neilstown Road in Clondalkin have been given the green light by South Dublin County Council.

Located at Neilstown Shopping Centre, the mixed development plan will consist of the demolition of the existing single-storey public house and the construction of a four-storey apartment block.

The proposed 26 apartments will be made up of four one-bedroom units and 22 two-bedroom units along with a smaller pub at ground level.

The plans provide for a 12-space car park that includes one disabled space along with bin stores and bicycle stands at ground level.

All apartments will have balconies/terraces and communal areas while the first floor will have a courtyard above the car park, and the third floor will have roof terraces for apartments.

There are also streetscape proposals within site boundaries to facilitate and enhance the public realm.

On February 20, South Dublin County Council granted planning permission for the development, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the requirement for public services to the development, such as electrical and street light cables, to be located underground.

The developer is also required to pay a financial contribution totalling €283,118.19 to South Dublin County Council.

The financial contribution is in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development within the area of the council, that is provided, or intended to be provided by or on behalf of it.

The Finches pub went up for sale in 2018 and Morrissey’s, the pub and hotel specialists, were seeking offers with an auction scheduled for April of that year.

Morrissey’s were later acquired by real estate agents Lisney, and it is understood that Old Nangor Road Ltd then purchased the Finches property.
