Plans for 417 apartments are lodged at Cooldown Commons

A FAST track planning application for 417 apartments at Cooldown Commons in Fortunestown Lane has been lodged by Cairn Homes Properties Limited.
The Strategic Housing Development was lodged on March 26 with the case to be decided on May 27.

Earlier this year, for the financial year ended December 31, 2019, Carin Homes reported 1,080 closed unit sales, an increase of 34% from 2018.
Total revenues grew by approximately 29% in 2019 to c. €434 million (2018: €337 million). Revenues, excluding non-core site sales, were approx €402 million (2018: €294.2 million), and 37% increase.
This latest fast-track is the latest in a number of big planning applications in the Citywest area in the past 18 months.
In February, a site notice containing plans for the development of 463 dwellings at Citywest Road and Magna Drive in Citywest was lodged and a decision is still to be made.
Glenveagh Homes Limited, who bought the site in 2018, are seeking permission for the construction of 353 apartments across seven apartment blocks, 89 houses, and 21 duplex apartments across two three-storey buildings, through An Bord Pleanála’s fast-track Strategic Housing Development system.
Elsewhere, An Bord Pleanála gave the green light to 290 apartments at Citywest in spite of opposition to the plan by Dunnes Stores.
OBSF Ltd has secured planning permission for the apartments across six apartment blocks ranging from five to seven storeys in height on a 2.9-hectare site at the Citywest Shopping Centre, Fortunestown.
Planning documents show that Dunnes Stores was one of the objectors to the plan along with a large number of local residents.
Also this year, plans for a 488-unit apartment development on Fortunestown Lane in Saggart have been granted permission – despite attracting 28 objections from local residents.
Developer Greenacre Residential DAC lodged the plans for the Strategic Housing Development (SHD) with An Bord Pleanála (ABP) last October, where developers who are planning to construct SHDs can apply directly to ABP under a fast-track system after consulting with the local authority.
