BUSINESSES who can pay their invoices, are implored to do so by South Dublin Chamber CEO Peter Byrne, who says it is vital small businesses are supported in this difficult time.

“A key worry for many businesses is that they will not be able to recommence business when life returns to normal - to this end we are asking every business who can, to pay their invoices,” he said.

“For many small businesses in particular this is the difference between planning a reopening/ being able to continue, and being gripped with concern or forced to close.”

Mr Byrne said more businesses are either closing or adapting to working from home in response to Covid-19, but the chamber remains open to help in any way they can.

“For those still operating in the workplace we have a proforma letter on our website that you may wish to give to your colleagues and staff for travelling to and from work.

“We are with South Dublin LEO providing support at local level and in conjunction with other chambers working with Government on the roll out of national supports.”

Businesses are encouraged to check the South Dublin Chamber website for a comprehensive list of supports.

Mr Byrne hailed many examples of kindness and generosity such as services being provided for free by members to hospital and frontline staff.

“We are very fortunate to have one of the best hospitals in Europe on our doorstep, Tallaght University Hospital.

The list of people, agencies, staff is too long for me to start saying thank you but we all are grateful to everyone who is working to keep us healthy, safe, supported and fed.

One of the positives that might emerge from all of this is an appreciation of the many people who work seen and unseen to allow us to live the lives we do.”
