Plans in place to remove rubbish from back garden

SOUTH Dublin County Council has confirmed that arrangements have been made to clear illegally dumped waste from the grounds of a vacant property in a Tallaght estate.

This week, Fine Gael councillor Baby Pereppadan visited the Russell Square property after receiving a complaint from a resident.

“After getting the complaint, I went there directly and I am aware of how horrendous the situation is, as many people are using the area as a dumping site”, Cllr Pereppadan said.

“The litter continues to increase day by day.

“It has become a health hazard to the people living in that area.”

When contacted by The Echo, a spokesperson for South Dublin County Council said: “[The council] is aware of this issue and arrangements have been made to clear the illegally dumped materials at this location.”

The Echo also sought answers on the ownership of the property and the length of time it has been vacant.

However, the council spokesperson said: “The council have no further comment to make on this matter at this time.”
