Priory Market vendors scoop top food awards

TWO food venders operating out of Priory Market scooped up awards at the Asian Street Food Awards.

Thai spot Park 27, led by local chef Warren Mahon and the Palestinian food vendor Yaffa which have stalls in the centre of the food market on Tallaght’s Main Road came out on top in three different categories on the night, with the Thai place taking home two.

Park 27 won in the categories for Most Authentic Thai Restaurant and Best New Thai Restaurant, Dublin. Yaffa received the gong for Best Palestine Restaurant, Dublin.

Park 27 champions its spice bag offering and also offers popular Thai dishes such as Khao Soi Gai.

Partas CEO John Kearns stated that Mr Mahon’s previous experiences as a chef have helped him hone “something special” at the Thai space in the indoor market.

The Chief Executive said: “He has worked in fine dining in Dublin and London, and he

[learned a lot] about the cuisine from particularly northern Thailand, and so he’s brought that to across the road from where he lives – and done it to an exceptional degree!

“Anybody coming to Priory Market who gets to try Park 27 realises straight away that they’re getting something special.”

The pair of award-winning vendors are some of the dozen on offer at the market, with a range of international cuisine available.

Yaffa moved into the local area in August and offers authentic Palestinian foods like manakeesh, made by a Palestinian.

The vendor had previously operated in Blanchardstown before moving to the south west of the county, and within two months has picked up an award.

“Yaffa is very new to us and they’ve only been with us a short number of months. They have been perfecting their street cuisine.

“Anas is from Palestine. He is taking that true Palestinian food – it is exactly the authentic Palestinian food you would get if you were in Palestine.”
