BROADBAND and phone services provider Pure Telecom, which is based in Citywest, has teamed up with British television service provider Netgem, to offer Irish viewers the opportunity to access Netgem’s range of live and on-demand content through broadband and TV bundles.

Subscribers will be able to access live TV from Saorview channels, streaming services from providers including YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, All4 and Plex, as well as ad-free kids’ TV provider Hopster, and the service is integrated with Alexa voice control.

A national survey of 1,000 adults, which was carried out in advance of announcement of the partnership last week, found that 81 per cent of Irish adults are currently paying for at least one streaming service, with the average adult spending €18.91 per month on streaming services.

It also found that the Covid-19 lockdown caused 34 per cent of Irish adults to increase the amount they spend on streaming channels.

The CEO of Pure Telecom, Paul Connell, said: “Our research shows that online viewership is now a huge market in Ireland – and even more so in the last few months.

“As more TV and streaming providers enter the market, each of them producing more and more original content, consumers are demanding greater choice.

“We are very excited that we can now give this to our customers by entering Ireland’s triple-play market with Netgem and as a result, continue along our year-on-year growth trajectory.

“At Pure Telecom, top-quality customer service along with extremely competitive prices have always been our priority.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Netgem to provide a genuine alternative for Irish viewers seeking both broadband and TV.”

The broadband and TV bundles being offered as a result of the partnership of Pure Telecom and Netgem start at €43.

Sylvain Thevenot, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Netgem, said: “Pure Telecom is a really strong local player in an Irish broadband market that is heating up rapidly.

“We are delighted to be working with them to reach new audiences in Ireland and showcase how quickly and easily ISPs can launch compelling TV services via Netgem with a low overall investment.”
