ADVERTORIAL

NIALL Boylan and his wife Karen are showing listeners a very different side of married life in their new podcast, Don’t Call Me Darling.

Now twelve episodes in, the show is built around the kind of conversations couples have every day, from relationships, children and money to menopause, household rows, who sleeps where, why men apparently cannot fill a dishwasher properly and why, somehow, everything is always Niall’s fault!

The podcast came about almost by accident when a guest dropped out of one of Niall’s shows and Karen stepped in at the last minute. Despite years working behind the scenes as part of Niall’s radio and podcast team, she had never joined him behind the microphone.

The chemistry worked immediately. During the show Karen called Niall “darling”, prompting him to laugh: “We’re on the air. Don’t call me darling!” The name stuck.

Behind the laughs is a close partnership. Karen supported Niall through a serious illness last year, when he spent six weeks in hospital, something he says brought home just how much she means to him.

But the new podcast is deliberately upbeat: no doom and gloom, no manufactured arguments, just marriage, honesty and plenty of laughs!
