ReelFlamenco set for debut at the Civic

“WE’RE delighted to be part of their programme” beams Lucan based Artscope’s Caroline Wynn regarding the 2026 Red Line Book Festival.

As part of The Red Line Book Festival, presented by SDCC Libraries and Arts,

‘ReelFlamenco’ brings together the rhythmic vitality of Irish traditional dance and the expressive power of flamenco in a performance of dance, music and song.

Led by dancers and choreographers Louise O’Sullivan and Juan Carlos Avecilla, the production features musicians from Ireland and Spain, including members of The Rubik’s Ensemble.

Louise O’Sullivan is an accomplished Irish dancer, choreographer and teacher, recognised for her distinguished career with Riverdance and her dedication to Irish dance performance.

Juan Carlos Avecilla is a Spanish director, choreographer and flamenco  dancer, trained in Spanish dance at the Maribel Gallardo Conservatory of Cádiz, Andalucia.

He also holds a degree in Spanish dance and flamenco choreography from the María de Ávila Superior Conservatory of Dance in Madrid.

‘ReelFlamenco’ will culminate in an hour-long, explosive show, taking audiences from the roots of tradition to bold contemporary expression, while remaining true to the core traditions of both Irish and Spanish dance, song and music.

This promises to be a “compelling and vibrant” intercultural performance.

‘ReelFlamenco’ is an initiative of the South Dublin County Council Arts and Libraries in association with Artscope/Creative Connexions Ireland.

It is funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

The show will serve as part of Artscope’s “big finale” for 2026, with a choral show planned in Spain at the end of October, with the organisation also working towards a project between Ireland and Poland.

Artscope is also putting plans in place for the 2027 South Dublin Live programme.

Caroline would like to thank the Red Line Book Festival and the Arts Office for helping to organise this production.

‘ReelFlamenco’ will be performed in the Civic Theatre at 7:30pm on October 15.

Admission is free, with tickets available HERE.
