Relay for Life campaigners ‘hopelessly devoted’ to fun

THE Ballyfermot Relay for Life campaign held a hugely entertaining lip sync battle in the Ballyfermot Sports and Social Club last Saturday.

A number of great performances took place on the night, including a unique performance of ‘Grease’ and Dublin favourite Maniac 2000 by Mark McCabe.

The winner on the night was Leigha Byrne, with Wayne McGarry coming in second place and Josie and Karen coming in third.
All proceeds raised go towards the Ballyfermot Relay for Life, which is in its third year and will take place in Le Fanu Park on August 20/21.

The 24-hour walking relay raises funds for the Irish Cancer Society and has proven hugely successful throughout the Ballyfermot community.

It was first organised following a charity cycle held by Cherry Orchard brothers Wayne, Daniel and Kevin in memory of their mother Patty McGarry (54) who passed away in August 2013 following cancer related illness.

Further information about how to donate to the Ballyfermot Relay for Life and get involved in fundraising events can be found at the Ballyfermot Relay for Life Facebook page.
