Renault Belgard donates van to homeless charity to support vital work

A TALLAGHT business has donated a van to a homeless charity in support of its voluntary work, which feeds more than 1,300 people a week.

The Feed Our Homeless charity last Friday picked up a brand new Renault Trafic van, worth €30k, from the Renault Belgard dealership in Tallaght.

The vehicle will be used by the volunteer-run Dublin charity, which only had one van, to pick-up much needed supplies and donations and transport them around the city.

Speaking with The Echo, Natasha Morgan, co-founder of Feed Our Homeless, said that the new van is already making "a huge difference".

“We run a soup kitchen three nights a weeks, a walking outreach service three nights a week and an emergency outreach, seven nights a week”, Natasha said.

“The day before we picked up the van [from Renault Belgard] we received three phone calls from corporate sponsors but we just couldn’t pick up the supplies.

“We were totally stretched with one van.

“However, having the second van, will now allow us to pick up donations and free-up a van to stay in the city centre.

“If there is an emergency call, a van is there and we can still pick up more supplies.

“It’s also time-saving for volunteers.”

Natasha added: “The van has already made a huge difference and we can’t thank Renault Belgard enough, especially Daniel Kavanagh.”

Before the van was collected by Feed Our Homless last Friday, Renault Belgard also had the van branded for the charity.

Louise Mullen, Marketing Manager with Renault Belgard told The Echo: “We met the guys from Feed Our Homeless to see exactly what they do and as soon as we met them and heard about how they help people, we were delighted to help them.

“As a business, we wanted to give something back and wanted to be able to provide a van, so for us [Feed Our Homeless] was the perfect fit.

“With the homeless crisis so bad it was nice for us as a business to be able to work with a homeless charity like Feed Our Homeless”.
