Dozens attended a community walk on Thursday to highlight recent assaults on women in the Rathfarnham area.

Following three separate assaults on women in the Stocking Lane area, a popular walking route for locals, residents decided to regain their sense of community.

Aoife O’Neill organised the walk, and speaking to Echo.ie she said: “We had over 60 people attend, which I’m really happy about.”

O’Neill continued: “Everyone that attended had the same sense of fear, but we managed to show solidarity with each other.

“We don’t want to be pushed off our roads.”

O’Neill said she hopes that the walks can become a regular occurrence, if only to give women a sense of unity when walking in the area.

Mayor Paul Gogarty attended the walk last night, as well as Fianna Fáil TD John Lahart and Independent councillor Deirdre O’Donovan.

Cllr O’Donovan recently created an online petition to secure funding for additional Garda resources to be assigned to the DMR South Division in light of the attacks, believed to been have committed by the same individual.

No arrests have been made as investigations continue into three separate assaults on women in the area between June 13-18.
