Scoil Treasa edging closer

IT WAS not to be for Scoil Treasa on Monday in Croke Park as they lost out 6-8 to 3-3 to Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille in the Corn Olly Quinlan Final.

Despite a spirited performance, the Firhouse side were left facing an eight-point deficit at the halftime break.

A goal from Tara O’Kelly and a point by Emily Fogarty kept them in it, but Thaobh na Coille continued to pull away.

Chloe Murphy and Lilly Loughran both found the back of the net for the Scoil Treasa, while Fogarty tagged on another couple of points in the second half, but it fell short of really troubling their opponents.

It has, nevertheless, been a fine campaign by the Firhouse school which has been edging ever closer to a Cumann na mBunscol camogie title since having a team set up four years ago.

Indeed in their first season Treasa made it as far as the last eight before reaching two semi finals and, this season, a decider in which they all gave a very good account of themselves, particularly, Fogarty, and goalkeeper Charlie Murphy.

Yet the absence of captain Sadie Codd and her sister Neasa in the title match was certainly felt by the team.
