SDCC to carry out small improvement works in Tallaght parks and open spaces

South Dublin County Council have confirmed that provisions have been made to carry out a number of small improvement works in parks and open spaces in Tallaght, at an estimated cost of €152,000.

It was confirmed at this month’s Tallaght Area Committee meeting that the provision has been made by the chief executive in the 2017 budget.

These improvements include re-orientating the pitch at Tymon Park beside Coláiste de hÍde, and carrying out drainage works on St Mark’s GAA pitches in Butler McGee Park.

Two new footpaths also feature in the plans, one will be a pathway from Tallaght Leisure Centre to Jobstown Park, while separately a footpath will be built across the open space from Lanndale Lawns to Ambervale, towards the Luas stop.

Smaller improvements include the provision of a public light on the new footpath at Alderwood and Virginia Heights, the installation of seating in Kiltalown Park and hedge planting along the boundary fence separating Kilnamanagh from the Belgard Road.

Fianna Fáil councillor Charlie O’Connor said that he will be asking the council to ensure that the works “are carried out as soon as possible.”
