Sean & Conor Price – X Factor duo release mini album

It’s been just over a year since Blessington lads, Sean and Conor Price, captured our hearts with their rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’ in their audition for the X Factor.
After being told by Simon Cowell preceding their audition that they “are the best audition” they had seen, they went through the gruelling bootcamp, six-chair challenge, and judges’ houses process to make it to the highly coveted live shows.

Fast forward 12 months and they have just released their new mini-album ‘Dreamer’ and it has gone straight to number eight on the Official Irish Charts.
Conor (15) and Sean (19) first started busking among a who’s who of musical talent on Grafton Street when they where only 11 and 13, and now having booked a gig in The Helix following shows in London and Manchester they brought The Echo up to speed with their goings-on.
It must feel so strange to see your mini-album on the charts in between George Ezra’s ‘Staying at Tamara’s’ and ‘The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac’?
Yeah, it’s so crazy to see our names in among such big names like that. All the support we’ve gotten has been crazy.
‘Dreamer’, where did the inspiration come from for the songs ‘Be Like You’ and ‘Quit’?
The whole message of ‘Dreamer’ is all about following your dreams and being yourself which we showcased in the songs ‘Be Like You’ and ‘Quit’. The inspiration came from us really wanting to show that you can live your dreams.
How long did it take to record the album? From the writing process to finalising.
The mini-album took around half a year to finalise. We were writing songs on the X Factor just backstage and really felt like we should put them out and any chance we could get we would be writing.
So when the show finished and the tour had finished we kept writing and got into the studio as quick as we could.
Where did you record the album and what was it like to sit down and record the songs you’ve spent some time working on?
We recorded all the tracks from ‘Dreamer’ in Windmill Lane with a great Producer, Larry Hogan. To be able to sit down and record acoustic songs we had written and turn them into finished projects was an amazing feeling.
What was the process like of shooting the music video for ‘Get Lost’?
Shooting the music video for ‘Get Lost’ involved a lot of brain storming with our videographer Sam Fallover, when we had the idea to have a split screen with one side blue and one side red it felt like it just fit really nicely with the song.
So the set was built and we spent two very long days filming and it was so much fun.
You recently announced a show in The Helix, you’ve come a long way from busking on the streets. How different is it?
Coming from busking on the streets only slightly more than a year ago to playing our own shows and releasing music has been an amazing journey for us.
So much has changed and we hope we can keep growing because we love music and this is what we really want to do.
What does it mean to follow your dreams?
To do something you’re passionate about no matter what it is and try as hard as you can to pursue it.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
Artists such as Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendez and Dermot Kennedy inspire us to create music that we love.
Who is your most played on Spotify?
We are always listening to new music and different kinds of music, but we would listen to people like Hudson Taylor, Khalid and James Arthur.
Favourite album of all time and why?
‘I met you when I was 18’ by Lauv, just because it’s so different, it’s really clever and he’s a great musician.
