Sending Love to patients in hospital

TALLAGHT University Hospital has introduced its own postal delivery service called ‘Sending Love’.

The new postal delivery service will compliment the hospital’s Patient Care Package service, a parcel drop-off service for families wishing to get items to loved ones in hospital.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, visiting restrictions have been in place at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) for a number of weeks.

In that time, close to 1,000 patient care packages have been processed – ensuring that those being cared for in hospital can still receive items from loved ones.

This week, the hospital has introduced a new patient-focused service called Sending Love.

According to the hospital: “With restricted movement we appreciate it might be difficult for people to get to a post office, so we are launching a new postal delivery service.”

An initiative of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service,  people can simply email a letter to sendinglove@tuh.ie.

Hospital staff will then print out the letter, place it in an envelope and deliver it to the patient sealed.

The service will run from Monday to Friday, with emails printed and delivered within a 24-hour time frame.
