Six local breweries feature on new online Irish beer map
A number of local breweries are featured on a new online Irish beer bap that was launched recently. The resource aims to highlight independent breweries across Ireland and to encourage beer-drinkers to seek out local establishments, reports Maddie Mueller.
The six breweries from across South Dublin featured on the map include, Four Provinces Brew Co, founded in 2013 by Andrew Murphy and Feargal Chambers, an important part of the Kimmage community.
The establishment supports the local GAA team and has several sustainability measurements in place.
Jack Smyth Stout & Ale, founded in 2016, is based in Greenhills and produces beer specifically for Gallagher’s Boxty House, a restaurant in Temple Bar.
Lineman in Rathcoole was founded in 2019 by husband and wife duo Vivienne and Mark Lucey, who were homebrewers for over 20 years before opening their own brewery.
Rascals Brewing Company in Inchicore was founded in 2014 by Emma Devlin and Cathal O’Donoghue after the couple spent time in New Zealand developing a passion for the Kiwi craft beer industry.
The brewery is very involved in the local community, sponsoring the local football club, and helping with school and environmental initiatives.
Stone Barrel Brewing Company in Dublin 12, founded in 2013 by Niall Fitzgerald and Kevin McKinney, has a focus on innovation and sustainability.
The brewery’s effective operational strategies help reduce its carbon footprint and overall environmental impact.
Whiplash Beer is a Ballyfermot brewery that was founded in 2016 by Alex Lawes and Alan Wolfe, who both had prior experience in crafting single-batch brews.
The brewery has a focus on social responsibility and philanthropy, recently raising over €2,000 in a single day for Alone, an Irish charity that supports older people.
Supported by Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board, the beer map was created in conjunction with the Independent Craft Brewers of Ireland.
Breweries who are not yet on the map can register on the Irish Beer Map website.
