Slow-Ho-Ho sprinkling of Christmas magic

WOODSTOWN Village in Knocklyon got a sprinkling of Christmas magic this month when Santa Claus and Mrs Claus made the journey from the North Pole to give gifts to children in the area for the Woodstown Village Residents’ Association launch of their ‘Slow-Ho-Ho Down’ campaign.

Over 250 children went to the event to see Santa Claus and Mrs Claus in their grotto on Saturday, December 1, and got their pictures taken with the famous couple while a snow machine gave proceedings a wintery feel.

Gabriel Curtis from the Woodstown Village Residents’ Association told The Echo: “There’s nothing we don’t love about Christmas here at Woodstown Village, Knocklyon.

“There are so many great traditions, and the biggest one is the annual visit of Santa and Mrs Claus that takes place in the first week of December.”

Santa Claus and Mrs Claus were ably assisted by a team of elves, made up of members of the residents’ association Junior Committee, and three gardaí from Rathfarnham Garda Station who were there to join in the festive fun and launch the association’s annual ‘Slow-Ho-Ho Down’ campaign.

Woodstown Village Residents’ Association ‘Slow-Ho-Ho Down’ campaign encourages motorists to slow down this Christmas and is now in its fifth year, and signs conveying this message have been erected around Woodstown Village.

Mr Curtis added: “Days like this don’t happen without residents helping out, so please continue supporting your residents’ association.

“We hope everyone, especially the children, had a fantastic day.” Santa Claus and Mrs Claus also enjoyed their day in Woodstown Village, with Santa remarking that he looks forward to the event every year.
