After two days of exciting competition the girls emerged with 20 medals between them, taking gold, silver and bronze across the disciplines of hoop, ball, rope and ribbon.

Delighted with the achievements of the club’s athletes, coach McLoughlin said “All the girls work so hard at training every Saturday and this success is the result of all that.

“They’re relatively young athletes, from 13 up to 23 years, and this was their first time competing in the European Championships. We’re just very proud of them all. It was a great experience for them all.

“They were thrilled with their success as were their coaches, families and all the athletes in South Dublin Special Olympics Sports Club” she added.
