Spinathon raises €2,500 towards rebuilding a new school in Nepal

NAGARHOPE raised over €2,500 in a ‘Spinathon’ recently towards rebuilding a school in Nagarkot, Nepal, reports Brendan Grehan.
Organised by Seamus Clandillon the ‘Spinathon’ at Supervalu, Lucan, was held in parallel with the Tour de Nepal Cycle from East to West Nepal where Seamus’ son, Fachtna and three colleagues are cycling 1,170 kilometers over 20 days.
On Saturday, the spinners took turns at cycling three bikes, against a backdrop of Nepal wth the Tour de Nepal route displayed. The cyclists spinned from 9am to 6pm.
Seamus Clandillon told The Echo: “We had a great day down in Supervalu. We had more than enough cyclists and plenty of collectors. It was very successful for raising funds for Nagarhope and from a PR point of view, as some people might not know what Nagarhope is and the work that they do.”
Nagarhope’s basic school in Satikurya, Nagarkot, north east of Kathmandu, had to be deconstructed in the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck Nepal in April and May 2015, when almost 8,000 people died.
Seamus added: “We would like to thank all the spinners and the collectors and to Ian Lynam and his staff in Superval and to Ray Barnes from Lucan Lions for his help and support.”
