The Cork outfit boast-ed the over- all winner in Aoife Cooke, but Tangney’s perform-ance, together with that of Helen Brouder (sixth), Catherine Bambrick (10th) and Ruth Kelly (11th) earned them the team title.

The club’s top four runners were narrowly pipped for county medals as Dublin finished second, just two points off Cork.

In the men’s equivalent, Sportsworld’s team finished up sixth overall with Conor McCarthy and Kevin Curran leading the charge for them in 38th and 39th respectively, while Karl Chatterton was 43rd and Stephen O’Donnell 48th.

There was a strong showing by Liffey Valley’s Damien Cauvet in this contest as he finished up fourth in a time of 28:22 while Kevin Moore of Dundrum AC crossed the line in ninth place.
